Summary

OCIO/OFT’s plan focuses on creating a high performance, customer-driven organization, which can drive down statewide technology costs – both immediately, and for the long term. OCIO/OFT achieves its savings target primarily by renegotiating contracts to lower the payments to information technology vendors, and leveraging the State’s buying power by aggregating purchases of technology goods and services for the State as a whole rather than individually for each agency. These actions will also drive significant savings for OCIO/OFT customers – other state agencies. Specifically, improvements in the efficiency of mainframe, data storage and other technology services will reduce the cost of agency mission-critical applications, such as the Child Abuse Hotline, Statewide Fingerprinting and NYSPIN.
