Medicaid Inspector General, Office of the

Mission

The Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) is charged with preserving the integrity of the Medicaid program by conducting and coordinating fraud, waste and abuse control activities for all State agencies responsible for services funded by the Medicaid program. In fulfilling this role, the Office conducts and supervises all prevention, detection, and investigation activities and makes recommendations to these agencies for improvement. In addition, the Medicaid Inspector General works closely with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Control Unit (MFCU) and Federal and local law enforcement officials.

Budget Highlights

The Executive Budget recommends $55.0 million for OMIG. This is a decrease of $1.9 million from the 2014-15 budget. The decrease primarily reflects the realignment of personal services funding.

The Executive Budget recommends a workforce of 453 FTEs for the Agency. This is a decrease of 27 FTEs from the 2014-15 workforce target, largely related to certain staff being assumed under the Medicaid Global Cap.
