Mission

The Department of Civil Service is charged with providing human resource management services to State and local governments. The Department assists State agencies with personnel recruitment and placement services, administers tests, oversees job classifications, and administers benefits.

Budget Highlights

The Executive Budget recommends $50.9 million ($14.5 million General Fund; $36.3 million Special Revenue Funds-Other) and a workforce of 347; and reflects the transfer of human resource functions (-1 FTE) to the Business Services Center in the Office of General Services during 2015-16. The Budget contains $0.5 million and 3 FTEs for a pilot program in up to five agencies to implement efficiencies in recruitment, testing and employee retention.
