In FY 2014, appropriations totaling $11.8 million were enacted to implement the collective bargaining agreements between the State and the two bargaining units represented by the United University Professions -- the bargaining units which represent State Agency Lifeguards and faculty and non-teaching professional staff within the State University system.
Adequate funding was provided for retroactive payments to the Lifeguards dating to 2004, with a small portion of the appropriation not needed to fulfill the contractual obligation. The ongoing funding for such collective bargaining agreements is reflected in State agency budgets. Accordingly, this appropriation is eliminated.
