Mission

The Office for Technology (OFT) provides centralized technology services, helps shape technology policy, sets IT standards, and coordinates statewide technology-related initiatives to improve the efficiency of New York State government. The Office for Technology is charged with developing options to meet the State’s expanding data center needs including data backup and disaster recovery. Further, the agency is consolidating the State’s IT infrastructure and creating enterprise technology solutions, such as converged network services, an enterprise email solution, and an Enterprise Identity and an Access Management solution. OFT’s mission is to deliver best-in-class service, while also driving down the total cost of IT ownership for the State.

Budget Highlights

The Executive Budget recommends $434.1 million for the OFT. This reflects no change from the funding levels in 2011-12 budget, as the transformation of this agency is still underway.

The Executive Budget recommends a workforce of 597 FTEs for the agency. This is an increase of 26 FTEs from the 2011-12 budget, reflecting the need for new talent to guide and implement the transformation effort.
