Selected Highlights For Syracuse – Central New York

Syracuse-Central New York Region

  • Total NYS School Aid to Syracuse-Central New York Region school districts will increase from $1.4 billion in 2007-08 to $1.5 billion in 2008-09, an increase of $125.0 or 8.8%.
  • Total STAR property tax relief to residents of the Syracuse-Central New York region will increase from $298.8 million in 2007-08 to $311.5 in 2008-09, an increase of $12.7 million or 4.2%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for Syracuse-Central New York residents will increase from $111.0 million in 2007-08 to $120.4 million in 2008-09, an increase of $9.4 million or 8.4%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Fulton residents will increase by $210,151 or 13.5% to $1.7 million in 2008-09.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Rome residents will increase by $625,621 or 7.0% to $9.5 million in 2008-09.

Onondaga County

  • Total NYS School Aid to Onondaga County school districts will increase from $567.7 in 2007-08 to $611.2 in 2008-09, an increase of $43.5 million or 7.6%.
  • Total STAR property tax relief to Onondaga County residents will increase from $131.3 million in 2007-08 to $136.1 in 2008-09, an increase of $4.8 million or 3.5%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for Onondaga County residents will increase from $71.5 million in 2007-08 to $77.8 million in 2008-09, an increase of $6.3 million or 8.8%.
  • Projected savings for Onondaga County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $17.2 million in 2008-09.
  • $10 million will be provided to help finance the Connective Corridor project in Syracuse, as part of the Executive Budget’s City-by-City Fund.
  • $1.25 million for capital improvements at Green Lakes State Park.

Chenango County

  • Projected savings for Chenango County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $2.5 million in 2008-09.
  • Closing of Camp Pharsalia, to achieve a budget savings of $1.8 million in 2008-09 and $6.0 million in 2009-10.

Ostego County

  • Projected savings for Otsego County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $3.0 million in 2008-09.
  • $800,000 for capital improvements at Hyde Hall State Historical Site.

Oneida County

  • Projected savings for Oneida County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $10.8 million in 2008-09.
  • $50,000 for capital improvements at Pixley Falls State Park.
  • $500,000 for capital improvements at Verona Beach State Park

Oswego County

  • Projected savings for Oswego County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $5.9 million in 2008-09.
  • $600,000 for capital improvements at Selkirk Shores State Park.

City of Syracuse

  • Total NYS School Aid to the City of Syracuse school districts will increase from $245.0 million in 2007-08 to $269.2 million in 2008-09, an increase of $24.2 million or 9.8%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Syracuse residents will increase from $68.8 million in 2007-08 to $75.0 million in 2008-09, an increase of $6.1 million or 9.0%.
  • Allows the City of Syracuse to install up to 50 “red light cameras” that document traffic violations. These devices will help improve roadway safety and are projected to produce $3.5 million in additional revenue for the city.

City of Utica

  • Total NYS School Aid to City of Utica school districts will increase from $85.2 million in 2007-08 to $95.9 million in 2008-09, an increase of $10.7 million or 12.5%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Utica residents will increase from $15.5 million in 2007-08 to $16.9 million in 2008-09, an increase of $1.4 million or 9.0%.
