Selected Highlights For North Country Region

North Country Region

  • Total NYS School Aid to North Country school districts will increase from $782.2 million in 2007-08 to $854.4 million in 2008-09, an increase of $72.2 million or 9.2%.
  • Total STAR property tax relief to North Country residents will increase from $122.4 million in 2007-08 to $127.5 million in 2008-09, an increase of $5.1 million or 4.1%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for North Country Region residents will increase from $17.2 million in 2007-08 to $18.4 million in 2008-09, an increase of $1.2 million or 6.7%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Glens Falls residents will increase by $151,420 or 9.5% to $1.7 million in 2008-09.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Plattsburgh residents will increase by $136,993 or 5.0% to $1.8 million in 2008-09.

Franklin County

  • Closing of Camp Gabriels, to achieve a budget savings of $2.8 million in 2008-09 and $9.0 million in 2009-10.

Clinton County

  • The Adirondack Wilderness Challenge youth facility in Schuyler Falls will close in January 2008, merging with the Adirondack Residential Center. This will produce savings of $336,000 in 2008-09 and $1.6 million in 2009-10.

Jefferson County

  • Projected savings for Jefferson County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $3.7 million in 2008-09.
  • $10 million for infrastructure improvements at Fort Drum, as part of the Executive Budget’s City-by-City Fund.
  • $100,000 for capital improvements at Keewaydin State Park.
  • $300,000 for capital improvements at Rock Island Lighthouse.
  • $700,000 for capital improvements at Southwick Beach State Park.
  • $1.15 million for capital improvements at Wellesley Island State Park.
  • $700,000 for capital improvements at Wescott Beach State Park.

St. Lawrence County

  • Projected savings for St. Lawrence County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $5.9 million in 2008-09.
  • $570,000 for capital improvements at Coles Creek State Park
  • $2.8 million for capital improvements at Robert Moses State Park.

Essex County

  • $325,000 for capital improvements at Crown Point State Historic Site.
  • $75,000 for capital improvements at John Brown Farm State Historic Site.
