New York City Region

  • Total NYS School Aid to New York City school districts will increase from $7.5 billion in 2007-08 to $8.1 billion in 2008-09, an increase of $547.3 million or 7.3%.
  • Total STAR property tax relief to New York City residents will decrease from $1.32 billion in 2007-08 to $1.30 billion in 2008-09, a decrease of $18.7 million or 1.4%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for New York City residents will increase from $20.0 million in 2007-08 to $163.9 million in 2008-09, an increase of $143.9 million or 719.7%.
  • Projected savings for New York City for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $520.3 million in 2008-09.
  • The Pyramid Reception Center youth facility in the Bronx will close in January 2008. This will produce savings of $1 million in 2008-09 and $4.8 million in 2009-10.
  • A total of $19.1 million for capital improvements at parks and historic sites throughout New York City.
  • $14.6 million for capital improvements at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx.
  • $1 million for capital improvements at Brooklyn Bridge State Park.
  • $1.1 million for capital improvements at Clay Pit Ponds State Park in Staten Island.
  • $230,000 for capital improvements at East River State Park in Brooklyn.
  • $2.2 million for capital improvements at Riverbank State Park in Manhattan.
