Selected Highlights for the Capital District Region

Capital District Region

  • Total NYS School Aid to Capital District Region school districts will increase from $1.0 billion in 2007-08 to $1.1 billion in 2008-09, an increase of $99.7 million or 9.5%.
  • Total STAR property tax relief to Capital District Region residents will increase from $269.5 in 2007-08 to $279.9 in 2008-09, an increase of $10.4 million or 3.8%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for Capital District Region residents will increase from $53.8 million in 2007-08 to $58.1 million in 2008-09, an increase of $4.3 million or 8.0%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Amsterdam residents will increase by $196,925 or 7.0% to $3.0 million in 2008-09.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Watervliet residents will increase by $114,030 or 9.5% to $1.3 million in 2008-09.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Hudson residents will increase by $126.656 or 9.0% to $1.5 million in 2008-09.

Albany County

  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for Albany County residents will increase from $17.3 million in 2007-08 to $19.0 million in 2008-09, an increase of $1.6 million or 9.8%.
  • Projected savings for Albany County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $8.2 million in 2008-09.
  • $3.55 million for capital improvements at John Boyd Thatcher Park.
  • $75,000 for capital improvements at Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site.
  • $250,000 for capital improvements at Thompson Lake State Park
  • The Cass Residential Center youth facility in Rensselaerville will close in May 2008. This will produce savings of $369,000 in 2008-09 and $1.8 million in 2009-10.

Rensselaer County

  • $280,000 for capital improvements at Cherry Plain State Park.
  • $800,000 for capital improvements at Grafton Lakes State Park.

Saratoga County

  • Projected savings for Saratoga County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $6.0 million in 2008-09.
  • Closing of Camp Mt. McGregor to achieve a budget savings of $1.1 million in 2008-09 and $4.2 million in 2009-10.
  • $1.9 million for capital improvements at Moreau Lake State Park.
  • $2.35 million for capital improvements at Peebles Island.
  • $3.8 million for capital improvements at Saratoga Spa State Park

Fulton County

  • The Gloversville Group Home youth facility in Gloversville will close in January 2008. This will produce savings of $92,000 in 2008-09 and $443,000 in 2009-10.
  • $170,000 for capital improvements at Johnson Hall State Historic Site.

Montgomery County

  • $800,000 for capital improvements at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site.

Washington County

  • $200,000 for capital improvements at Washington County Trailway.

City of Albany

  • Total NYS School Aid to City of Albany school districts will increase from $73.6 million in 2007-08 to $87.2 million in 2008-09, an increase of $13.6 million or 18.5%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Albany residents will increase from $12.2 million in 2007-08 to $13.6 million in 2008-09, an increase of $1.4 million or 11.5%.

City of Schenectady

  • Total NYS School Aid to City of Schenectady school districts will increase from $85.3 million in 2007-08 to $97.5 million in 2008-09, an increase of $12.2 million or 14.3%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Schenectady residents will increase by $974,132 or 9.0% to $11.7 million in 2008-09.
