Selected Highlights For Binghamton – Southern Tier

Southern Tier Region

  • Total NYS School Aid to Southern Tier Region school districts will increase from $751.3 million in 2007-08 to $834.2 million in 2008-09, an increase of $82.9 million or 11.0%.
  • Total STAR property tax relief to Southern Tier Region residents will increase from $156.7 million in 2007-08 to $165.7 million in 2008-09, an increase of $9.0 or 5.7%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for Southern Tier Region residents will increase from $21.1 million in 2007-08 to $22.7 million in 2008-09, an increase of $1.6 million or 7.6%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Hornell residents will increase by $103,161 or 7.0% to $1.5 million in 2008-09.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Corning residents will increase by $77,252 or 5.0% to $1.6 million in 2008-09.

Delaware County

  • The Brace Residential Center youth facility in Masonville will close in January 2008. This will produce savings of $410,000 in 2008-09 and $2 million in 2009-10.

Broome County

  • Projected savings for Broome County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $9.5 million in 2008-09.
  • $1.3 million for capital improvements at Chenango Valley State Park.

Chemung County

  • $900,000 for capital improvements at Catharine Valley Trail (also partially located in Schuyler County).
  • $85,000 for capital improvements at Soaring Eagles Golf Course.

Steuben County

  • Projected savings for Steuben County for the Medicaid Cap and State takeover of Family Health Plus will total $4.8 million in 2008-09.
  • $850,000 for capital improvements at Indian Hills State Park and $75,000 for Indian Hills Golf Course.

City of Binghamton

  • Total NYS School Aid to City of Binghamton school districts will increase from $47.7 million in 2007-08 to $54.3 million in 2008-09, an increase of $6.6 million or 13.8%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Binghamton residents will increase by $804,051 or 9.0% to $9.7 million in 2008-09.

City of Elmira

  • Total NYS School Aid to City of Elmira school districts will increase from $70.3 million in 2007-08 to $90.4 million in 2008-09, an increase of $20.2 million or 28.7%.
  • Total Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding for City of Elmira residents will increase by $398,033 or 9.0% to $4.8 million in 2008-09.
